VHT Special 6 Head

The VHT Special 6 is a great little 6 Watt tube amp that i use for small venues and for recording sessions, mine has been upgraded with Mercury Magnetics transformers, high grade capacitors, new tubes and a few mods…

VHT Special 6 Head

The VHT Special 6 is a great little 6 Watt tube amp that can be easily repaired of modified due to it’s handwired internal circuit board even if the stock parts like the oversized output transformer are good enough for the price, the stock model is very powerful and very loud, at low volume the sound is clean with lots of headroom, when pushed it delivers a nice crunchy American style tone and it screams when the boost switch is activated, it reacts also well with stompboxes.

Features:

On/Off switch, Standby/3W/6W switch, Tone, Volume with pull boost, Hi/Low input jacks, 4/8/16 Ohm Output Jacks, external boost switch jack and that’s all.

What i like:

It’s small but loud, the parts quality, the price, the circuit board is handwired wich means that you can easily modify or repair that little monster, and it looks cool.

What i Don’t like:

It’s not made anymore and it’s not easy to find an equivalent in it’s class.

VHT Special 6 Head Mods

My VHT Special 6 Head has been modified in many ways, i will discribe the modifications later on in the Do It Yourself section.
